Farin Ruwa Dam: FG Pays  N700m Intervention-Retired Perm Sec

Dr. Musa Ibrahim Weng, Retired Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Water Resources has revealed that the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari has approved N700M as part of her intervention to complete Farin Ruwa Dam in Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

He disclosed this during an exclusive interview with selected Journalists shortly before the handing over of the project to the Federal Government.

Dr. Weng appreciated the Federal Government for her foresight to take over the gigantic project which, if completed in the next two years would boost electricity, tourism, water supply, and irrigation farming.

He also commended the relentless pursuit of Governor Abdullahi Sule to ensure that the Federal Government takes off the burden of the project.

Dr. Musa Weng explained that Nasarawa state Governor deserved an acolyte for constructing the 15.5km Sisin-Baki-Kwara road ending at the dam site.

Stating that road construction was part of the contract to be taken over by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, however, maintained that the construction of an asphalt road network spurs the quick response of the Federal Government.

The retired Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Water Resources who was the architect of the project also appreciate the initiators of the project, the first executive Governor, Abdullahi Adamu, late Aliyu Akwe Doma, and Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura for taking a new strategy to ensure the completion of the project.

“The contract of the project was N5.8bn and was at 60 percent completion”.

The Minister for Water Resources Engineer Suleiman Husseini Adamu applauded both former and incumbent Governor for initiating a purposeful project that would not only benefit Nasarawa state but Nigeria in general.

He reiterated that the Federal Government would not be deterred  to embark on projects that have a direct bearing on the lives of the citizenry.

Engineer Suleiman gave the assurance that the project would be completed within the stipulated period of twenty-four months.

Nasarawa state Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule applauded his predecessors for thinking outside the box by initiating a project that would impact on the lives of the people.

He, in addition, said the project would generate electricity, regional water scheme and irrigation farming, which would create job opportunities for the teeming youths.
