Failed Impeachment Of Imo Deputy Governor: Imo Assembly Re-Admits 5 Suspended Members After 6 Months

Aftermath of the alleged botched and failed impeachment of Imo Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, the authority of the Imo State House of Assembly, IMHA, under the leadership of the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon.Acho Ihim, on Tuesday, April 16th 2019, re-admitted 5 suspended Members of the State House of Assembly after 6 months.

 

It could be recalled the 5 suspended State lawmakers were suspended by the same house because they vehemently refused to support and endorse the impeachment of the Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, whom according to them did not do anything wrong to the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, who wanted him ( Madumere) to be impeached.

 

The 5 lawmakers out of the 27 lawmakers pulled out from the agreement of the whole house members who decided to carry out that alleged failed impeachment exercise due the intervention of the court.

 

The affected members who was called-off by the house during the last plenary includes: Hon.Chiji Collins,for Isiala Mbano, Hon.Israel Nnataraonye (Onugbu),for Mbaitoli, and  Hon.Donatus Onuigwe,for Oru-West. Others are: Hon.Thaddeus Uche Oguwike,for Ikeduru and Hon.John Nkenna Nzeruo, for Oru-East.

 

In their separate speeches, some of the embattled lawmakers who was re-admitted, Hon.John Nzeruo, Hon.Donatus Onuigwe, and Hon.Israel Nnataraonye ,expressed delight to be called-off to continue their legislative duties for the sake of their respective state constituencies, both thanked God for their integrity bestowed upon them with sound minds, courage and wisdom to refuse and conquer the impeachment threats against them.

 

Hon.Onuigwe, said ” the re-admission has no meaning our tenure is almost rounded up. The most important thing is that we are re-admitted to serve as part of their service to humanity and divinity”.

 

“We accepted to return because of it is respective and individual rights as duly elected lawmakers. The most important thing is legacy and integrity we have established in Imo State”, says Hon.Nzeruo.

 

Meanwhile,the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon.Acho Ihim, has directed the clerk of the House to forward the list of the 110 communities to the Governor for gazette as they would in no distant time granted their autonomy in accordance to the law for the establishment of autonomous communities in the state.
