Extra-Judicial Killing: Judge Absence In Court Stalls Continuation Of Hearing

A High Court of Justice Jos, Plateau State presided over by Justice David .G. Mann over the killing of a 300 AbsenceLevel Student of the University of Jos, Late Rinji Peter Bala has been adjourned to 2nd and 18th of February, 2021 on health ground.

 

Justice Mann was absent on Thursday 21st January 2021 when the matter was scheduled to come up for the continuation of hearing on a suit No, PLD/JII79C/1920.

 

“You would recall that the matter first came up for mentioned on the 9th October 2020 was Sgt Ruya Auta was arraigned before justice David Mann on a two-count charge of murdered of late Rinji Peter Bala a university undergraduate in Plateau state”.

 

Sgt Ruya Auta allegedly killed the student who was attached personnel with the military Special Task Force (STF) in May 2020 sometime last year.

 

Speaking to our correspondent at the state High, counsel to the plaintiff, Barr. Garba Pwol SAN, represented by Nantok Dashuwar said they were granted fiat by the state attorney general and commissioner for justice Christantus Ahmadu who issued out a speedy hearing to handle by G.S. Pwoll ,pro-bono.

 

However, Pwoll said the adjournment was due to the ill health of the sitting judge, Justice David Mann which stalled the hearing, and the reason for the adjournment was the counsel handling the sat Ruya Aura, Barr J.A. Aduku withdrew and discontinue as a defense counsel.

 

It was gathered that the late Rinji Peter Bala was arrested around Utonko road in Hwolshe, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau state and was taken to Zaria stadium where he was murdered by the suspect, Sgt Ruya Auta.
