Since the return of democracy, Plateau state has continued to witness influx of foreign mercenaries across neighboring countries of Burkina Faso , Senegal, Niger, Chad, Mali, and Cameron who are smuggled in Nigeria illegally to perpetrate all manner of crime and criminality to displace the natives.

The Human Rights Film Festival 2022 has through movie making showcased the lost culture of African where the girl child has been pushed into prostitution, theft, through poverty among school dropouts in conflict, especially bright one whose parents can’t cater to their welfare and developed I don’t care attitude.

According to the short movie, the activities of children would always kick start with small favour and gradually moved to using them to deliver hard drugs suddenly they become addicted to sexual exploitation.

However, the role of the girl child and the danger of drug abuse in females and trafficking Oyiola cautioned parents on how immorality is prevalent amongst vulnerable youth who dropped out of school in sub-Saharan Africa with a quest for a better life and survival at all cost.

Juventus Yilwe head operations NAPTIP,, Plateau State, Ikape James Executive Director, Grace Pam of Human Rights Commission Director Plateau state, Vivien E.Abara in their separate views condemned the human trafficking in Plateau Prone Local Governments in of  Bassa , Riyom, Quaanpan LGAs which they attributed to intensive area action against child trafficking must be put on sensitization and awareness campaign to end the situation.

They emphasized action in 100 high-risk districts for an end to child trafficking in the 17 LGAs of the state to reduce the vulnerable youth joining local and international domestic services.

This expresses the sadness of the Survivor-Led intelligence in  2000 most vulnerable villages in 20  high-risk districts and Intensive capacity building and strengthening the survivor-led intelligence network by survivors, through law enforcement agencies, stakeholders responsible for strengthening child protection, is the best child and organization that disseminates best practices relating to child protection and rights.

The film festival believes that ending human trafficking Freedom is non-negotiable. We’ve pledged to eradicate child trafficking, child labour, and child marriage right, at its source along with addressing other cross-cutting issues of education, child sexual abuse, water, sanitation, hygiene, and livelihood.

This model breaks the systemic barriers of oppression, access to rights, and injustice in child-friendly urban slums. A concept that will ensure holistic development of children living in urban slums, providing Girl child education,” the festival harps on “, they said.

They all noted empowering children and their communities to collectively work towards securing their rights and protecting them on how to stop child trafficking in Plateau state and its environs.

According to them , the Jos Film festival launched one of the largest survivor-led campaigns to raise awareness about evils like child trafficking, child labour, and child sexual abuse through the survivor-led intelligence network on wheels which has been extremely successful in the past in creating awareness on issues relating to end child trafficking, in trafficking-prone areas.

They called for support and sustainable and holistic preventive programme for child protection and child-centric development in urban slum communities so that every child is safe, free, healthy and educated

They urged federal and state governors to create the freedom Fellows Education Fund to support scholarships for children rescued from forced labour and other forms of violence, to help them complete their education and achieve their dreams of child protection and child development. States need to initiate a Campaign Against Ending Child Rape & Child Trafficking in Nigeria.
