Exclusive: The Millions Of Naira Carted Away by Armed Robbers From Ministry of Finance Nasarawa Was Meant For Nasarawa Cares Programme

In the aftermath of the armed robbery incident at the State Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, top Government functionaries in the State differ in explanation over the amount carted away by the unidentified robbers.

 

Feelers said the money was meant for the payment of salaries of casual staff while others say it was withdrawn to host members of the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission.

 

Other sources revealed that a chunk amount of money was for the maintenance of vehicles in the Ministry.

Fresh fact from the Ministry opined that the money was mainly for N- Cares Programme.

 

It was gathered that the coordinator in charge of the programme wrote to the Governor informing him of the non-collection of the money.

 

A situation that is generating serious tension in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.

 

A director in confidence said the money carted away by armed robbers was not up to N100m, as at press time did not confirm the precise amount stolen.

 

The Commissioner of Finance, Haruna Ogbole could not be reached for comment by members of the fourth estate of the realm.

 

The Commissioner of information, Culture, and Tourism Comrade Dogo Shammah disclosed that effort has been put in place to erect barriers in not only the Ministry of Finance but would be extended to other ministries to avoid a replication of what happened in the Finance Ministry.
