Enough Is Enough! We Will No Longer Watch In Silence As Our Nation Bleeds—NDC Aspirants Forum Declares

The NDC Aspirants Forum, comprising aspirants to the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in collaboration with the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM), today held a high-impact National Press Conference at the NUJ Building, Abuja.

The event, themed “Rescue Nigeria: Consolidating Hope, Building a New Beginning”, served as a powerful platform for the aspirants to address the critical challenges facing the nation and present a united front for credible leadership and good governance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the Press Conference, the Forum in conjuction with COPDEM said, “We, the Aspirants of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to the National and State Assemblies, standing shoulder to shoulder with our partners in the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM), have come before you today with fire in our hearts and an unshakeable resolve in our spirits!

“I stand before you not as a distant politician, but as a fellow Nigerian whose heart bleeds for this country. I stand here burning with the same pain, the same anger, and the same undying hope that millions of our countrymen and women carry every single day,” Ismail Gambari said on behalf of the Forum.

According to him, he said, this is not just another press conference. This is a national awakening! This is a thunderous call to conscience!  This is the moment we draw a line in the sand and declare: Enough is enough! We will no longer watch in silence as our nation bleeds!”

Lamenting further the forum said; “Look around you. Families are drowning in the ocean of inflation. Mothers cry at night because they cannot feed their children. Graduates roam the streets with certificates that have become mere decorations.

“Our farms are deserted because of fear — fear of bandits, kidnappers, and terrorists who have turned our ancestral lands into killing fields.  Corruption has become a cancer eating away at the very soul of our institutions.

“Our youths are losing hope. Our women are exhausted. Our future is being stolen before our very eyes. But I tell you today — with every drop of blood in my veins — Nigerians have not surrendered!

“Our hope is not dead. It is alive, it is angry, and it is rising like a mighty tide ready to sweep away failure and mediocrity!

“The theme of this conference — “Rescue Nigeria: Consolidating Hope, Building a New Beginning” — is not a slogan. It is a battle cry! It is a solemn vow! It is a national assignment we have accepted with our lives, our resources, and our future.

“We pay special tribute today to the visionary founder and National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.

“It was his bold vision, courage, and unwavering commitment that birthed this party at a time when many had lost faith in the system. Through perseverance and legal battles, he gave Nigeria a new platform for genuine change. His foresight has united progressives across the land and created the vehicle we now ride with pride.

The forum paid glowing commendation to Senator Dickson, the founder of the NDC as they said; “ your labour has not been in vain — history will remember you as one of the architects of the New Nigeria!

“We, the NDC Aspirants to the National and State Assemblies, in collaboration with COPDEM and all progressive forces, are not here to play politics as usual. We are here to rescue Nigeria!

“We believe, with every fibre of our being, that this country can work again. We reject governance that is about looting instead of service. We reject leadership without competence, without compassion, and without integrity.

“We reject a democracy that only comes alive every four years to produce the same pain and disappointment. We are building a movement — a massive, unstoppable national movement — that cuts across ethnicity, religion, and region. A movement powered by justice, equity, security, and shared prosperity.

The forum noted that it wants a movement where every vote counts, where our youths are given wings to fly, where women take their rightful place at the table of leadership, and where security forces protect lives instead of threatening them.

“We want a Nigeria where the child of a poor farmer in Gwoza or a fisherman in the Niger Delta can dream as big as any other child. Where hard work is rewarded. Where unity is not just a song but a living reality. Where government fears the people and serves them with humility and transparency.

“To the millions of Nigerians who have refused to give up — the suffering mothers, the frustrated youths, the courageous women, the honest workers — we see you. We feel your pain. We salute your resilience. Your tears are not in vain. Your struggles have become the fuel for this movement!

“We are grateful to the leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress and the entire Coalition for the Protection of Democracy for providing this powerful platform. We do not take it lightly. We see it as a sacred charge.

Furthermore it said; “To the political class: The time for selfishness is over. Patriotism must rise! To civil society and grassroots movements: Your mobilisation power is needed now more than ever. To the media: Remain the fearless voice of the voiceless. Speak truth to power without fear or favour. To the Nigerian people: Do not lose hope! Your time is coming. The dawn is near.

“This is our moment! This is the generation that will rescue Nigeria. We must reject hate, violence, and division. We must embrace ideas, unity, and courageous action. We must build institutions that outlive individuals,” he said.

According to the forum it said rescue Nigeria is not a wish — it is a duty. Consolidating Hope is not a phrase — it is our daily fight. Building a New Beginning is not a dream — it is our collective assignment.

“Let us rise with courage! Let us rise with discipline! Let us rise with unbreakable faith! Together, we will build a Nigeria where justice flows like a river, where opportunity is open to all, and where every citizen can stand tall and declare with pride: “I am a Nigerian, and I am proud!”
