Eid-El Kabir: Prices Of Rams Remain Stable In Adamawa

Dan Garba

Prices of rams have remained stable in Adamawa state due to economic recession facing the country few days to Eid-el Kabir celebration.

In a telephone interview with the chairman cattle market Jimeta bye-pass Alhaji Garba Jimo attributed the low patronize of customers to economic recession the country is passing through

“Prices of ram vary depending on the size of the animal, but smallest ram attracts fifteen thousand naira” he said.

Alhaji Jimo however said “prospective buyers usually besieged the market three to four days to Sallah”, stressing that volume of customers will increase with the payment of civil servants.

Also commenting, the chairman rams sellers in Mubi town, Alhaji Sani Adamu Usman said the market recorded low turn of customers who usually came from Eastern and Western parts of the country during festive period and make bulk purchase of rams.

“The low patronage could not be unconnected with the economic recession in the country”, however, he said prices of rams remain stable compared to what was obtained during last year’s Eid-el Kabir.

Our correspondent observed that prices of fresh tomatoes and pepper have gone down while that of onion is getting out of the reach of a common man in the markets.
