Logpobiri Anaiya

The EFCC has been called upon to ensure a good synergy with the judiciary to discharge it’s duties.

The call was made by the Chief Justice of  Bauchi State, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar when the Head of Operations, Gombe Zonal office of the EFCC, Aminu Ado Aliyu paid her a visit in Bauchi.

She said that, the visit came at a better time when the fight against corruption is being intensified to bring the menace  to a minimal level.

Justice Rabi commended the EFCC saying that the anti-corruption agency is doing a good job.

She ensured of the cooperation of the Bauchi state judiciary to help the EFCC fight corruption adding that judicial officers are ready to help in that regard.‎

She advised the EFCC to continue building the capacities of their staff to confront the challenges.

The Bauchi State Chief Justice noted that EFCC cases being criminal, the onus and burden relied on prosecutors to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt.

She therefore urged prosecutors to do their work well to convince the courts on their cases in order to get what they want.

She also commended EFCC lawyers of coming to court on time despite coming from Gombe to attend hearings.

On his part, the zonal head of the EFCC stated that judiciary is the last institutions to define the investigation of the EFCC operations.

He said the visit is mandatory considering the delay tactics applied by lawyers especially at preliminary stage in order to allegedly sabotage the outcome of trials.

He urged the Chief Justice to continue demonstrating her courage and fairness in her proceeding.

In his contribution, Barrister Abubakar Aliyu of Legal and Prosecution Department of the EFCC assured the Chief Justice that the shortcomings of the EFCC she noted are going to be addressed for better discharge of its duties.

He also commended the efforts being made by the judges to improve the discharge and dispensation of justice asking them to be proactive in discharging their duties.
