The Tuesday last week’s attack on Irigwe Speaking natives of North-Central Nigeria has kept rising as the death tolls now increase to 46 persons gruesomely murder by suspected herdsmen in Bassa Local Government Council of Plateau State.
The Chairman of the Council, Hon Chindo Gona sued for peaceful coexistence between the warring groups to sheath their swords and embrace the path of promoting peace in their dormant.
Speaking to our medium on the devastating level of destruction of lives and properties in Irigwe land, Hon Gona cautioned against reprisal attacks as revenge.
He said the traditional and community leaders of the affected communities should preach peace in their area.
According to him, the meeting held with security personnel is to curtail the further breakdown of law and order by ensuring this dastardly killing stops henceforth, we can’t continue to be losing lives every day.
However, when as how many people were killed in ugly crises, Chindo Gona said I may not account for the number of dead, but the killing had been there before I came on board.
He drew the attention of the warring groups to know that every Nigerian has his own right, we should learn to tolerate each other no matter what the level of provocation by restoring peace in these communities.
Hon Gona called on the aggrieved communities to be patient with each other, exercise restraint, we should be committed to peace building by demonstrating love to each other, We must love one another no matter what we are experiencing.
He maintained that one of the challenges is the insecurity bedeviling us is not only in Bassa LGA but the whole world is under siege economically.
Hon Chindo Gona added the problem of financial cut across the world not only in Bassa LGA so we should imbibe tolerance.
The Former President Irigwe Youth, Hon Chinge Ayuba Dodo confirmed that the death tolls rising to over 48 people.
“He cried out that the world has abandoned us they want to finish us completely, he also also also inaugurated a standing committee to monitor the crisis and report it back “.
