Dalung Lambasts National Assembly For Aiding President Tinubu For Using Military Fiat To Govern

The Former Minister for Youth and Sports Development in Nigeria ,Barr.Solomon Dalung has raised alarm warning  that Nigeria may be edging dangerously close to a life president as scenario  under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu unfolding with the 10th National Assembly now rubber stamps .

Dalung made this known during a live programme with news central in Abuja and made available to this medium in Jos.

He said that democracy in Nigeria under the leadership of Tinubu is gradually drifting us into tyranny with the compromised of democratic institution like the National Assembly which is expected constitutionally to play a supervisory role on the other arms of government as we can see in the past 2 years .

Dalung stressed that the national assembly had presented itself as an extension of the executive arm because everything that goes there is not subjected to the normal scrutiny .

He pointed out that there are laid down rules regulations as a procedure to be adopted in the house but this national assembly or upon citing Mr President Bola Ahmed they all stepping into their hallowed chambers singing praises .

‘I  mean they will start singing as if they are  like children , I always say,’ ‘children citing their grandfather bringing these kids something and for them that all , the exercise is unheard of and it is undemocratic which is not found in any democratic nations , he thinks .

Solomon Dalung lampooned the national assembly that most of their songs they sings are not even songs that promote our national cohesion or the unity of the country ,patriotism or nationalism .

According to him ,they are songs that are sung’s to advance the egos of the President for personal interest.

We never had this type of national assembly .I meant throughout my life in this country since I became an adult and my participation in politics as activism and I have never seen a national assembly of this kind .

Dalung speaks on political mudslinging since APC government took over the mantle of leadership dominant in 2015 the political scene has been washed with compromised stand.

He stated that their political dominance always crying of reforms pledges and raising concerns last week ,Mr Dalung raised eyebrows warning Nigerian politician that we are driving on dangerous path which gradually drifting us into tyranny and one party system.

Solomon accused the national assembly of always circumventing such process and imposing unlawful institutions on our democracy.

So ,when you take a look at even how intolerance the conduct of the national assembly leadership is as to the dissenting voices in the National Assembly then ,any voice that seems to opposed the leadership is suspended outrightly and even when the suspension is unlawful is unknown to the law of national assembly is carry out.

He noted that it is impose and when you look at how the judiciary are unable to call both the executive and legislative arms to order they do those orders that are not comply with and look at how chapter 2 of our  constitution is completely abandoned by the executive or government itself .

Adding,the summary of all this put together the current 10th  National Assembly is the architect of this preposition that is advancing this because this is the worst national assembly in the history of our democratic experienced from 1999 and even with the second republic to 4th republic the presented itself as one of the unique assembly that history will ever remember for abandoning the people and pursuing personal interest and the interest of the executive .

He disclosed that ,reducing the entire institution which is the institutions for our democracy not can’t stand now but he saw them as pollster for the executive because they’re elevated themselves beyond a rubber stamp to pollster because if  it is a rubber stamp there must be something for them to endorse us but in this case with the current wave of sole candidature which the last time .

Solomon maintained that when we heard of it was under military rule .So,when we have it now resurfacing under our presumed democracy because currently now we diet ,we don’t have democracy but we practice diet because we have a military ruler in some part of the country while we have some elected leaders operating elsewhere .

He explained further that is diet and it is not democracy even the attainment of this diet is by flag disregard to our constitution so this sum up together raises a very serious apprehension that the tendency left for us is not sole candidature but we will have a life president very soon.

Dalung frowned that the assembly like the one we have now and that is where the masses are supposed to be represented because the national assembly is a conglomeration of the voices of the Nigeria people .

‘You look at how low the conduct ,proceedings in the national assembly ,I mean there was a time that the Senate President with impunity was announcing sending monies to the account of members and suddenly he realized that the mic was on and he said oh he was going to send mails .

‘I mean you can imagine how the world is looking at us that is the national assembly of the giant the supposed giant of Africa so the national assembly to that has performed very very low at this President was supposed to by section 305 to have impose a state of emergency rule ,’he said .

According to Dalung ,the conditions for imposing a state of emergency rule was enumerated under that section now the president went ahead to declared a state of emergency where the law required him to gazette through the national assembly and send the gazette to them two days for that was not done .

He expressed dismay that the President went immediately to appoint a sole administrator even before it was sent to the national assembly as requirement of 2/3 was not consulted only few members of the Senate so the constitution was breach .

Solomon Dalung revealed that history is what help to reminds us of the current 10th national assembly is the architect of this preposition.
