Dalung Condemns Failure & Collapse Of   Security Architecture In Nigeria With Empty Promises By Agencies

A former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barr. Solomon Selcap Dalung has disclosed that whenever the terrorists have accomplished their heinous activities in killing millions and displaying them, then the government will organize a touring comedy of officials, visiting the displaced persons and condemning and condemning. Military chiefs and military Generals would only visit Internally Displaced persons (IDPs) and they have never taken the battle to the doorsteps of these criminals in the forest.

Speaking on the recent killings in Barkin-Ladi, Riyom, Mangu, and Wase Local Government Areas of Plateau State, Dalung condemned it as a terrorist act of bandits with a coordinated plan.

He said, So, Plateau state had in the past one week been a tourist ecology center with every government official, military General, Inspector General of Police, and security chief on a touring comedy, going there to condemn and make empty promises to the IDPs that “we will ensure we brought the perpetrators to justice”. They have been making these promises for over 20 years and there is no single person that has ever been prosecuted for attacking.

While reacting to the state insecurity in the Middle Belt region, he explained that the unfortunate circle of violence in the Middle Belt region, politically referred to as North Central is highly condemnable.

So, this is a state failure and the collapse of the security, and institutional architecture in this country Cally Nigeria. I am not a prophet of doom, but our people should not expect any hope, and there is no guarantee that all these visits and comedy would ever produce anything reasonable because the Inspector General of Police does not need to visit the IDPs.

He needs to declare war against the criminals. His responsibility is to take the war against those criminals.

According to him, “It is beyond the imagination of National thought, but, this negative development, attacks on communities across the region had taken too long, and I am wondering whether the Nigerian State appreciates the magnitude and implications it has on National cohesion and security.

Barr. Solomon stated that this attack has been given different nomenclatures at one point it was referred to as farmers-herders clashes, at other twists it has been referred to as Fulani herdsmen, and along the line, it metamorphosed into Fulani killers’ herders.

Adding, as it is today, that is the nomenclature (Fulani herdsmen invaders), so when you look at the different nomenclatures used to describe the common criminal scene and activities which is a large scale of terrorism.

He condemned that we keep giving lip service to it because the Nigerian state is not interested in dealing with it.

“So, it gives it a name that has the ethnic identity, while in the actual sense, criminality has no ethnicity, it has no religion, it is criminality! Criminality!! So, we lost so many people.

We lost thousands of settlements; we lost thousands of ancestral communities. Displaced even from one state migrated to another”, Dalung stressed.

He revealed that he is aware of ethnic nationalities in Niger, they have relocated abandoning their ancestral homes have been taken over by bandits and they were forced to migrate to Nasarawa state.

Solomon Selcap explained further that these are people that do not have a common ancestral origin with the Nasarawa people that is where they ran for safety now.

So, the summary of what is happening is that the Nigerian state has ceded sovereignty to terrorists. So the commander in chief of Nigeria shared territory now with bandits who proclaimed impending attacks, and they would make good their threat by invading and attacking this community.

It is not the responsibility of all the Generals that visited Bokkos or Mangu to mock the people of Plateau or empathize with them, I have yet to find the appropriate cost in my dictionary because the world over once there is a terrorist attack, the security activates their machinery of hunting down the terrorists.

The Military should deal with it now if they allow it to escalate, Kadarko chiefdom has a rich forest reserved and is a border community neighboring Taraba and Adamawa States. And there are large tourist assets in between.

So, what they are doing now is that there are testing their ground while also fishing out, trying to identify a very good location for their operation. If the military does not flush them too early then, the experiences of Zamfara, Katsina, and Sokoto will soon live with us here on the Plateau.

Sadly, the middle belt has no leadership. The middle belt does not even have a formidable cultural organization that can mobilize the people and give them a communal identity to be able to resist these threats that are carefully crafted to clear the people on the face of the earth.

What we have here at the Middle Belt forum is an Elitists organization with an office in Abuja that seats in the cities to issue press statements. They don’t even have a state structure in the states. So it is an amorphous organization that is an expert in issuing press statements. If the Middle Belt Forum was an active socio-cultural organization, it should have been an organization on the ground in Plateau mobilizing, the consciousness of the people, educating the people to look forward to some of the indices of attack, look at the signs, that is the security conscious that is the duty of cultural organization not to be issuing political statements and abandoning the issues behind. So the people of the North Central and Middle Belt region are currently under siege. They are under siege by a sophisticated criminal gang that has infiltrated their natural reserve which is the forest.

They have also infiltrated their communities and they have recruited informants as a compass of direction of their target. So, when I heard people playing into the arms of criminals by promoting terrorism by using ethnic identity, I felt very sad. This attack on Bokkos was not carried out by Fulani invaders or Fulani militias along No! The components of the criminal gang if the military and security would conduct a thorough investigation, would realize that there is heavy content of the indigenous elements who are providing support services to these foreign invaders. Because the foreign invaders did not know the environment of the operation. Their target includes even the indigenous Fulani because the indigenous Fulani have also been a victim.

When they attack our communities, they go and rustle cattle from the Fulani and take it to the bush. So people were unable to identify their enemy. And even when you identify your enemy, you also have to identify your friend. Not every Fulani or Hausa is a terrorist, and so we must adopt the strategy of the Americans.

When America wanted to invade Iraq, they de-friend one religious sect of Islam as their friends who helped them with the intelligence to able to operate. Plateau, Northcentral, a Middle belt region, we have to adopt that strategy…
