COVID-19: We Embark On Awareness, Distribution Of Palliatives- Commissioner

Zamfara state ministry of women, children and social development in collaboration with the office of Her Excellency Hajiya Aisha Bello Matawalle, the First Lady of Zamfara State. Under the auspices of her pet project ZAMFARA WOMEN EMPOWERMENT SCHEME has officially flag off distribution Covid-19 palliative packages aimed at mitigating the plights and effect of Coronavirus amongst the vulnerable groups in Zamfara state.

 

While Speaking to Universal Reporters, Hon. Commissioner, ministry of women, children and social development, Hajiya Zainab Lawal Gummi said that her ministry has already created an effective and inclusive awareness via electronic media for urban and rural dwellers to ensure NCDC rules on social distance, hand wash, face masks and environmental sanitation across the 14 local government area in Zamfara state.

 

However, the Commissioner said, in view of the effect of lockdown, her ministry is doing house to house distribution of Covid-19 palliative packages in collaboration with the directors of the ministry so as to ensure justice during the exercise to most vulnerable people in the state. The distribution exercise is phase one, it will continue in order to reach all the 14 local government areas and we have already assigned coordinators for the effectiveness of this assignment in all the 14 local government in Zamfara state said Zainab Lawal.

 

Regarding to rural community, Zainab Lawal Gummi, who is also the Chairperson of data collection committee, said the ministry is doing all its efforts to ensure comprehensive data collection in rural communities within the 14 local government areas in Zamfara state especially for women and children. According to her, the data will assist in studying and assessing on how to approach the situation of needs for any particular groups or individuals when the matter arises.

 

The Commissioner also said the ministry collaborated with the forum of wives of local government chairmen and community leaders for wide coverage of the distribution of Covid-19 palliative packages in the state.

 

She therefore called for collective efforts and adherence to the NCDC directives towards fighting the Covid-19 pandemic across the state.
