COVID-19: Kebbi Enforces Compulsory Quarantine, Wearing Of Face Masks – Gov

Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State says the state government will enforce compulsory quarantine for all those coming into the state,  from other states, as part of the sustained plausible measures to stem the tide of the raging global Coronavirus Disease ( COVID-19), Pandemic.

 

Similarly, the state government will enforce the compulsory use of face masks in all the designated public places .

 

Governor Bagudu briefed the media in Birnin Kebbi, Monday, 4/5/2020 shortly after meeting with members of Kebbi State Task Force on Covid -19 at Government House, Birnin Kebbi.

 

According to the Governor, ” masks are being made available across the state , while our local tailors are being speedily trained to produce them.

 

” The state government will also adequate face masks , just as there is sufficiency for the people of the state to buy and use them.”

 

The governor further disclosed that, the state government had already set up mechanisms in place,  to ensure the strict observation of the nationwide night curfew put in place by President Muhammadu Buhari.

 

Bagudu stated that, the various security agencies had been fully mobilized to ensure compliance with the compulsory quarantine order.

 

” This is for all those coming into the state from outside, to protect the people who should be encouraged or forced to stay under observation, for a while .

 

” This is to ensure that, they don’t create harm to themselves or the innocent law abiding citizens of the state.

 

” As for those in isolation centres, they are those who have tested positive to the disease. Isolation is not a jail term, but they can’t leave, until they test negative.

 

” They are adequately taken care of by the state government. They are being provided with all their daily needs, access to electronics and gadgets like telephones, and have right to call their families, among others .

 

The governor also lauded the diligence and dedication of the members of the Task Force and other health professionals, saying , “they have been brave and courageous

 

” They have been in the forefront of the fight against the dreaded Coronavirus Disease and they need more thumbs up .”

 

He added,” the Task Force and other line Ministries and Agencies will continue to be empowered to provide the needed palliative support.

 

” Palliatives for all those who are either in quarantine as  isolation is available and will be provided by the committee ”.

 

He also directed the Permanent Secretary, Women Affairs, NCWC, FOMWAN, Adviser Women Affairs to coordinate and ensure that the Palliatives were distributed in different places especially to women who find it difficult to leave their homes as easily as their men folks.

 

He warned that COVID-19 is a global pandemic that affects all the people of the world, directly or indirectly and Kebbi State is not an exception.

 

“I however have confidence in the capacity of the Task Force and other health professionals and the general health system of the state.

 

“We are also grateful to the Almighty Allah for being merciful to the state in these challenging times

 

“Generally, everyone one is being impacted or affected and we are confident that, by the special grace of Allh, we shall soon surmount the formidable challenge,” he averred.

 

He directed the Task force to increase their daily media visibility, especially on the need to continuously sensitize the people of the state , to sustain the tempo of their invaluable support to the fight against the pandemic.

 

Bagudu further disclosed that, he had directed the State Deputy Governor to provide daily coordination of the activities of the Task Force.

 

This is with the view to provide the needed maximum high level visibility, coordination and efficacy of its activities.

 

The meeting was attended by the State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Samaila Yombe Dabai, Chief of Staff Government House, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, Secretary to the Kebbi State Government , Alhaji Babale Umar, representative of emir of Gwandu, Ibrahim Bashar (Galadiman Gwandu) members of Task Force on Covid -19 and the media among others.

 

It will be recall that Kebbi State has 12 numbers of confirmed cases of Corona Virus according to NCDC as at Monday 5/5/ 2020.
