COVID-19: How Travellers Bribe Security Agents To Enter Barkin Ladi —Mgt Comm Chair, Barr Mandyau

The Management Committee Chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau state ,Barr. Ezekiel Mandyau has disclosed that many citizens are not aware of the ravaging consequence of the Coronavirus in the rural areas, as they open window routes to outsiders who trooped into their residence without monitoring.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday, Mandyau reiterated the needs for citizens to observe social distance and stay at home which is one of preventive measure.
He said many citizens are seeing the pandemic as just a nightmare because they don’t belief that the disease exist but one of my major challenge is to kick out the pandemic in the council .
Mandyau said, the council has already taken step to stem the spread of the virus by inaugurating a eight man committee to educate, sensitized the populace on the danger of the virus to their lives.
He added that the council set up committee headed by his humble self on health; advocacy to educate sensitized them of the effects of the spread of the virus.
The council also quarantined at least eight persons who came through our neighborhood borders of Abuja, Kaduna, and Bauchi he explained.
He lamented that these people take advantage of the porous borders to bribe security personnel and enter the state because before now we had challenges of the personnel compromising.
Barr Ezekiel explained further that the council placed those personnel on monthly stipend to help them meet up the family needs, we have routes in Wamba , Jos east ,and Bauchi where smuggling of goods and entrance of persons take place.
He commended the state Governor Simon Bako Lalong for his remarkable measure taken to safeguard the lives of citizens, as he said; “but what we really need now is for our people to cooperate with the official by obeying social distances and hand washing including monitoring of visitors.
“As a council we don’t have a specific numbers of the beneficiaries at hand, with the lockdown virtually everyone is directly affected with the committee on ground which I chair, we vowed to take holistic approach to ensure vulnerable people are Carry alone, he added.”
Ezekiel frowned at the situation whereby security agent are compromising, as he said; “we should have stringent measure to curtail indiscriminate movement of persons to reduce the wide spread of the virus.”
