Reliable source from the Nasarawa State Ministry of Finance and Economic Development uncovered that only 30 percent workers at the State level would get their July salary following the garnishing of the State account due to ongoing litigation between the State Government and retirees in the State.
As at press time on Tuesday, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe summoned a marathon meeting with the State Board of Internal Revenue to proffer solution to the garnishing order of the account of the State Government at Zenith bank.
Some top officials in the State are advising the State Government to withdraw her account with Zenith bank over the happening which may cause chaos as workers are waiting for their salary ahead of Sallah celebration on Friday.
It would be recalled that during the administration of the then Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura was drag to the National Industrial Court in Makurdi demanding for the payment of 50 percent for three years without tangible clue on the payment of percent pension.
A competent source said the present Government under Governor Abdullahi Sule convinced the Union which led to the withdrawal of their case with conditions
Feelers said after five months, the Governor remind mute over the agreement leading to the filing of the matter at Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting Apo.
The State Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Abdulkarim Kana said the State Government received the court notice in the late hour of Tuesday.
He further explained that the amount for gratuity stand at N41 billion ,adding that all processes has been fulfilled while the presiding Judge, Justice Belgore fixed Wednesday August for mentioning of the matter.
Insider said the State Government collected loan from a Bank in the State to pay July salary to fragment of staff.
It was learnt that staff of the State House of Assembly, Judiciary were paid while majority are yet to pay.
A director in the Ministry of Finance said the amount collected as loan run into millions.
The State Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Comrade Dogo Shammah could not be reached for comment.
This was coming at a time civil servants especially workers are expecting salary to celebrate Sallah.
In same vain, civil servants at the Local Government level received their June salary.
