The newly appointed care-taker committee chairman Tafawa-balewa LGA of Bauchi state has warned revenue collectors against fraud and diversion of government funds saying that anyone found wanting would not be spared.

He added that revenue collectors must be of good character and moral behaviors worthy to stimulate growth and not agents of destruction now that APC administration is under trying period to restore the past glory of previous administration

Alhaji Aminu Umar Danbaba made the stern warning in an unscheduled visit to the Lere Perishable Items  Market  where  dealers from across the country troop to buy and sale  various types of perishable items.

Alhaji Aminu Danbaba  expressed confidence that the local government would be self-sufficient and capable of meeting the basic needs and demands of its people only  when the people pay their taxes and levies as and when due.

The chairman restated the council commitment to work in synergy with leaders of the market to enhance revenue collection and ensure security of their lives and property of the people.

“Let me reiterate that I am on  assessment tour to all markets under Tafawa-balewa LGA  markets apparently to discover more  areas of economic potential in an effort  to improve  internally generated revenue for the local government” said Dan Baba

Speaking at the occasion, the chairman of Lere market Alhaji Maiwada Chincinawa assured the local government chairman of their unflinching support to the government and pledged prompt payment of revenue to the authorities.

Chincinawa expressed concern on the number of levies imposed on them as well as security check points on the road that often extort money from them.

He called on the federal government to check what he described as unwanted corruption on Nigerian roads which he observed is contributing to high prices of food items in the country.
