Correspondents Chapel Appeals To Nasarawa Govt To Support NACABS Polytechnic

The national vice president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Chief Wilson Bako has appealed to the government of Nasarawa state to accord support to NACABS Polytechnic Akwanga, Bako stated this when the Correspondents’ Chapel of the NUJ paid a familiarization visit to the private polytechnic.

The national officer said that financial assistance to the institution would go a long way in the upliftment of the standard of education in the state, urging the proprietor of the polytechnic to give impetus to staff welfare.

He also called on the founder and Chief Executive Officer of NACABS to avoid payment of salary in percentage, saying the institution may end up losing it manpower to percentage payment.

The national vice President urged the management of the polytechnic to instill discipline in students through dress code, in addition said half dressing contributes to the menace of the society.

The chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Suleiman Abubakar in his speech said the visit was meant to stem the tide of cordial working relationship with the polytechnic as well to get rid of impersonators going round the state.

Abubakar commended the proprietor for contributing his quota towards the upliftment of education in the state, calling on the affluent in the state to invest in education. He however said education remains the only legacy to bequeath the younger generation.

He called on the well to do in the society to emulate the doggedness and steadfastness of the founder and proprietor, David Abuliya.

The proprietor, David Abuliya while delivering his speech applauded the Correspondents’ Chapel for the visit, soliciting for support in all ramifications; he also challenged parents and the state government to monitor the activities of the polytechnic.

Speaking on the shortage of hostels accommodation in the institution, David Abuliya called on the highly spirited individual in the state and beyond to invest in the expansion and building of hostel in the school under the Build Operate and Transfer (BOT).

“Under the BOT an individual is allow to build a hostel after which he will transfer the building to the institution”.

He described accommodation as a nagging hiccups affecting the polytechnic, he further said the institution since establishment in 2000 has never received penny from either the government of Nasarawa state or Tertiary Education Trust Fund.

David Abuliya expressed displeasure over the dwindling of science education in the state, calling on the state government to accord premise to science education.

“We will only build our children through the upliftment of science education”, he listed some of the success of the institution to include electronic result checking”.

The proprietor averred that the polytechnic has an interim accreditation of six courses which he listed as
