Accord Impetus On Building of More Hostels Accommodation-Correspondent’s Chapel To VC Nasarawa State University

With the biting effect of the present economic crunch and the rising price of house rent in Keffi,the Nigeria Union of Journalists has emphasized on the need for the Vice Chancellor of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi to accord greater premium on the development and building of hostels accommodation in the institution.

The national vice president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Zone D,Chief Wilson Bako gave the advice when the new executive of the Correspondent’s Chapel paid the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammed Akaro Mainoma a familiarization visit.

Bako said channeling more resources to hostel would ameliorate the plight of students of the institution; he commended the Vice Chancellor for the massive Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) projects conceived in the University.

Describing the appointment of Professor Mainoma as a blessing to the state and Lafia his local government for been the first indigenous headship of the state owned University.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammed Akaro Mainoma commended the new executive of the Correspondent’s Chapel for the peaceful poll, calling on the new leadership to give impetus in peace building amongst its members, saying only genuine peace will foster unity.

He described peace as a panacea for even development, advising that a leader must be cautious and be courageous to take decisions for the interest of members at all times

“Once you aspired to lead the people, I urged you to do better by carrying all and sundry along “.

The chairman of the Correspondent’s Chapel, Suleiman Abubakar said the visit was meant to introduce members of the Chapel as well to curb the rising spate of people impersonating as Journalists or member of the Chapel.

Abubakar applauded the Vice Chancellor for running the affairs of the University effectively; he said the visit would stem a synergy between the University community and the Chapel.

Professor Mainoma while fielding questions on the N20m dole out by the then president, Goodluck Jonathan to ease acute shortage of water in the state University, opined that the amount was channeled towards the building of overhead tanks.
