Christian Group Condemn Killing Of Villagers By Military Airstrikes, Calls For Calm And Suitable Probe

The Congress of Northern Nigeria Christians (CNNC), has condemned the drone attack on Ligarma community in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State that occurred on Sunday.

The Congress in a statement signed by its National Youth Leader, Engineer Daniel Kadzai said, “First, we use this medium to condemn the attack and pray for the repose of all those killed and wish a quick recovery of all those who sustained various degree of injuries.”

We commiserate with the families of the victims, the Muslim ummah, and Kaduna State Government. We appreciate Mr President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu,  for the prompt action taken so far.

“From available reports, this is not the first time, such a tragic mistake occurred which affected innocent and hapless persons with unimaginable fatalities, and nothing was done to mitigate or stop further occurrence.”

We called on the government at both state and federal levels as well as the Nigerian military to take drastic measures to unravel the circumstances that led to this incident, as well mobilize adequate resources for the speedy recovery of all those injured and pay adequate compensations to the the families of the victims.

In the present day counter insurgency, the use of predictive artificial intelligence (AI) in countering terrorism can have a deleterious effect on human rights. A well-regulated use of new surveillance capabilities may enhance states’ abilities to protect the citizens not the other way round. The operational framework at all tomes should include the safety of innocent citizens despite the difficulties faced.

We have top notch professionals in the Nigerian military, one wonder why such an error kept occurring.

However, Nigerians must not relent in prayers for members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, especially at this critical times.

Government on her part should ensure timely and adequate funding of the Nigerian military so they can be up to date with their equipment and personnel’s welfare.
