CACOL Calls For The Prosecution Of Sule Lamido’s Sons For Money Laundering

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has called for the prosecution of the two sons of Jigawa Governor, Alh. Sule Lamido for alleged N10 billion money laundering offence.
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had on Thursday arrested the two-Aminu Lamido and Mustapha Lamido and flew them to Abuja in the early hours of Friday by the operatives of the commission.
Following his arrest on December 11, 2012, on his way to Egypt, a Federal High Court, Kano, on July 12 this year convicted Aminu for failure to declare the $50,000 in his possession. He only declared $10,000 to the Nigerian Customs Service.

Reacting to the news, the Coalition through its Executive Chairman, Debo Adeniran
“It is very unfortunate that corruption has eaten deep into the skeleton of this country and also disheartening that when majority of Nigerians cannot afford decent living, our leaders and their children could be stealing our common patrimony with impunity.  This is a slap on the faces of the Jigawa people and all Nigerians at large. Why would people because they have access to public funds convert such to personal use despite the level of infrastructural decay being witnessed by many sector in the country? No potable water, no access to good health care, many are dying in droves because of the dilapidated roads, and even the air that used to be the safest has become another death trap because of the pervasive corruption.
Speaking further, Adeniran urged the EFCC to begin the prosecution of the two men to ensure that justice is done.
