Buhari Appoints Festus Keyamo, Others Into Governing Board Of NDIC

Festus Keyamo has been appointed a member, Governing Board of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation. In a letter written to the Senate, President Buhari wrote to the Senate seeking the confirmation of Keyamo and six others as chairman and members of the Governing Board of the NDIC.

In the letter he sent to the Senate, which was read by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday, he said; “In compliance with section 5 (4) of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Act 2006, it is my pleasure to forward to distinguished senate the under listed nominees for confirmation as chairman and members of Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation. Their CVs are attached.”

According to the President’s letter, the nominees are, Olabode Mustapha (Chairman, Ogun State), Garba Buba (Member, Bauchi State),Bello Garba (Member, Sokoto State),Joseph Okalogu (Member, Enugu State),Mustapha Mudashiru (Member, Kwara State),Festus Keyamo (Member, Delta) and Adewale Adeleke (Member, Ondo State)

The letter read thus; “It is my hope distinguished Senate will consider and confirm the nominees in the usual expeditious manner.

“Please accept Mr. Senate President, the assurances of my highest consideration.”

It would be recalled that Keyamo was appointed recently as the head of communications and strategy for President Buhari’s 2019 re-election bid.

Also in another letter, asked the Senate to confirm Ateru Garba Madami from Niger State, as a Resident Electoral Commissioner representing Niger State at INEC.

President Buhari in his letter stated thus; “It would be recalled that the Senate had earlier rejected the initial nominee on the ground that he hails from the same local government area and senatorial district with a serving national commissioner.”
