Boko Haram Terrorists Reason For Temporary Halt Of WASA Event For 6 Years–Nigerian Army

The Brigade Commander 33 Artillery Brigade Shadawanka Bauchi, Birgadier Abraham Luka Dusu disclosed that Boko Haram activities in North East region have forced temporarily halt of the Annual West African Social Activities (WASA) for 6 years.

Abraham Luka made the disclosure at the Annual WASA event organized at the 33 Artillery Brigade Shadawanka barracks Bauchi at the weekend,

Dusu said “The brigade since inception in 1991 has held its WASA annual as prescribed by Army Headquarters; however the activities of the Boko Haram terrorist in the past 6 years forced a temporary halt to the event”

“With the change in the status quo and the successful efforts by the Nigeria Armed Forces in degrading and dislodging the insurgents from their strongholds WASA has been resuscitated” He said

The Brigade Commander however commended the efforts and cooperation of civil populace on the fight of terrorism, noted that there is need for cordial civil military cooperation.

In his remark the special guest of honour the AOC Bauchi AVM Sani Ahmed said WASA celebration is indicative of the commendable level of security that returned and giant strides in the fight against terror.

“The improvement of in the security situation of the country is no small measure a result of the Federal government’s commitment in ensuring that armed forces is properly equipped to untimely defeat of terrorism ” AVM Sani said

He pointed out that Nigeria Army cooperation with other security agencies high professionalism as enshrined in the Chief of Army Staff (COA’S) vision which is to have a professionally responsive Nigeria Army in its discharge of its constitutional roles has been in the fight against Insurgency.
