Malam Muhammed Hassan, 62, the Poultry Farm Manager of Adda-Rogo in Toungo Local Government Area of Adamawa where Birds Flu outbreak was reported have started complaining of strange Illness.
Hassan in an interview with Newsmen in Toungo, the Headquarters of Toungo Local Government Area said that he was experiencing a strange illness in his body.
It would be recalled that Adamawa Government on Tuesday confirmed the outbreak of the disease in Toungo Local Government Area of the state.
And over 43,000 birds destroyed by the state ministry of Livestock to curtail the spread of the killer disease.
According to Hassan, he and other staff of the farm had been parking the death birds without proper protection unknowing to them until when the veterinary officers visited the farm and informed them about the danger.
“Presently, I am experiencing and feeling abnormal in my body.
“I am experiencing difficulties with my respiratory system and for the past one week I begin one kind of cough, headache and weak body which is strange in my life.
” I want to be medically checked up by the authority concern.” Hassan complained.
He narrated that the farm has never experienced such pandemic until three weeks ago when the farm owner brought some Peacocks from Yola.
According to the farm manager, one of the peacocks brought from Yola developed sign of sickness and after three days it died and that was the genesis of the disease outbreak in the farm.
He also confirmed that over 24,000 birds, 250 peacocks, and 456 Guinea Fowls and 54 Turkeys died and disposed.
When contacted over the development the state Commissioner for Livestock, Comrade Isah Salihu declined to make any comment about the health condition of the farmers.
But a reliable source under anonymity from the ministry confirmed to newsmen that the two poultry farms about the incident.
