Bauchi Police Records Over 722 Cases, And Arrests 1,460 For Various Offenses

The Bauchi State Police Command has recorded over seven hundred and twenty-two 722 cases, and also arrested one thousand four hundred and sixty for Kidnapping, banditry, rape, and other criminal act in the State.

Umar Sanda who is the state commissioner of police made it available to newsmen in Bauchi, said that the command also recovered six (6) Am 47 rifles, twenty local guns made, 23 Dane guns, nine fabricated revolvers, two assault rifles, one pistol revolver with five rounds of ammunition, one locally-made pistol revolver and one single and one double barrel guns.

Sanda said this during a speech representing the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, at the opening ceremony of a one-day campaign in Bauchi with the Tittle ‘‘Police Public Complaints Committee (PPCC) Sensitization campaign’’ held at the Bauchi state command guess house, organized by the Ministry of Police Affairs.

Added that the campaign is not only timely but one that would enhance and enrich accountability in the Nation’s policing system, especially at such a crucial time when there is a need for a standard and functioning police service.

He commended the courage and vision of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Baba, for their unrelenting efforts in ensuring an absolute drive towards reforming of the Police Force to conform to international standards and global best practices.

Adding that “This is manifested in the recent successes recorded by the Nigeria Police force in dealing with disciplinary-related matters such as; extortion, abuse of power, corruption and other unprofessional conduct of officers and men of the force while dealing with members of the public.

“There is no gain saying the fact that the Bauchi State Police Command in particular is very determined to tackling public complaint matters and other legitimate grievances without leaving any stone unturned.

“Consequently, from my assumption of duty as the 43rd Commissioner of Police Bauchi on the 29th November 2021 till date, the Command recorded seven hundred and twenty-two (722) cases and arrested over one thousand four hundred and sixty (1,460) suspects in connection to various crimes committed within and outside the State.

He said: “At this juncture, it is worthy to note that the aforementioned successes were made possible through actionable intelligence from members of the public, who as partners in progress share our desires and aspirations to maintain a safe and secure environment for all law-abiding citizens in the state and Nigeria in general.

“ He congratulated the Honourable Minister, Ministry of Police Affairs Alhaji Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi and his management team for bringing up this initiative, which will certainly bring members of the public closer to the police for effective service delivery”.
