Barr.Mandyau Appeals To President Buhari To Assist Over 3,000 IDPs In B/Ladi

The Management Committee Chairman of Barkin Ladi  Barr. Ezekiel Mandyau , has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to direct the necessary organs of his administration to take active measures  for welfare of internally Displaced Persons in the country especially to consider the plight of over 3,000 IDPs in B/Ladi who are  suffering untold hardship in this period of lockdown from order of the federal government .

 

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his  palliative measures  to bring succour our  Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) following the outbreak of COVID-19.

 

Mandyau made  the request recently while speaking to our medium on the plight of internally displaced persons  in Barkin-Ladi.

 

According to him ,president Buhari  Sunday  nationwide broadcast ordered was a big relief  that the IDPs will receive two months of food rations in the coming weeks.

 

Mandyau expressed optimism that the good geature if “The President’s pronouncement came to  Barkin-Ladi as a great and cheering information considering the plights our IDPs as critical period of their needs now”.

 

He pointed out that ”The series of dastardly attacks,lost of lives and pepper which affected   several villages and communities in  LGA, displaced over 3,000 innocent people, including the recent  spread eleventh different IDPs camps.

 

He lamented that ,“Although, officials of NEMA and SEMA also  visited all the camps and have promised to return with relief materials especially what could assist them rebuild their destroyed houses, we have not seen them yet.

 

“As a Council, we had went round the IDPs and pleaded with them to return to their destroyed communities to rebuild and restart a new living.

 

“To our surprise and gladness, shortly before Christmas, they all left the camps and went back to their respective dilapidated communities and villages,” he said.

 

Mandyau said that the fear of the Council is how the IDPs could cope with the threat of the pandemic, which demands social distancing and prudent hygiene.

 

“As a Council, we have taken some drastic measures to ensure that the virus doesn’t come around us here so as not to jeopardise the lives of our citizens,” he said.
