Sunny Moniedafe, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, has called for unity and collaboration between long-standing and newly admitted party members in order to strengthen the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Moniedafe, who also holds the traditional title of Jagaban of Jimeta, made the appeal while speaking with journalists during a stakeholders’ engagement in Yola.

He said the recent political realignment involving Governor Ahmadu Fintiri joining the APC presents a significant opportunity for the party to consolidate its influence and broaden its support base in the state.

According to him, existing party members should view the influx of new entrants as an advantage rather than a threat.

“I urge long-standing members of the party not to see the new entrants as a threat but as partners whose presence could further strengthen the APC in the state,” Miniedafe said.

He described the governor’s move to the ruling party as historic, noting that Fintiri is the first governor in Nigeria’s political history to defect to another party alongside a large number of loyal supporters.

Moniedafe also commended the development initiatives recorded under Fintiri’s administration, saying they have helped position the party for greater electoral success in Adamawa.

The APC stalwart further appealed to party members in the Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone to avoid internal divisions and work collectively to ensure unity and stability within the party.

He stressed that cooperation and shared commitment among members would enhance grassroots mobilisation and improve the party’s chances of securing victory in the 2027 elections.

The political landscape in Adamawa has recently experienced tensions between old and new party members following Fintiri’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, a development that has sparked debate and realignments within the state’s political structure.
