The Chairman of the Benue State Elders Advisory Council of the APC, Senator Barnabas Gemade, has warned against factions within the party, urging INEC officials and party monitors to disregard any alleged in-house arrangements.
Speaking at the I.B.B. Square in Makurdi, Gemade declared the APC in Benue is united, dismissing insinuations of fragmentation within the party.
He acknowledged God and greeted President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima, Governor Alia, and his Deputy, Barr Sam Ode.
Gemade described the gathering as a celebration of Governor Alia’s performance, projecting a massive turnout for his second-term campaign.
He highlighted the remarkable performances of governors from Benue North East since 1999, stressing that leadership from the zone has brought tangible development to the state.
Gemade criticized dissenting voices within the party, saying those benefiting from the party’s goodwill but working against its progress are doing a disservice to themselves.
He condemned attempts to “hide in bedrooms” to counter legally conducted party activities, describing it as shameful.
Gemade reaffirmed the Elders Council’s support for Governor Alia, citing his pragmatic antecedents and developmental strides.
He recalled his PDP tenure, noting he didn’t claim ownership of the governor he nominated or demand personal favours.
Gemade cautioned against misusing political influence for selfish interests, urging leaders to act in the state’s broader interest.
He called on stakeholders to close ranks with Governor Alia, saying the state is experiencing visible development under his administration.
