The All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Gen. Muhamadu Buhari (rtd), has vowed that all those guilty of embezzling public funds of the country will be made to refund the money they stole if elected as the country president in 2015.
He also promised to address social ills in the country such corruption, insecurity and unemployment.
He spoke on Saturday in Bauchi, while addressing a mammoth crowds consisting mainly of APC supporters that thronged the Ibrahim Badamasi Babaginda square despite the tension in recent weeks in the state, the atmosphere in and around the square was peaceful.
Buhari lamented that despite the huge security volt allocated to some troubled states of the northern part of the country; it was disheartening that the present administration is battling to surmount the challenge of insecurity.
He said,” It is sad that our country is now seeking the assistance of international communities to fight terrorism because the situation has gone out of hand”
“You hear terrible stories of insurgents killing the Nigeria Army and chasing them away from the barrack. This is a big shame of an administration that cannot secure the protection of the lives and properties of its citizens”
“If I am elected as president, the problem of insecurity will be my top priority because once there is no peace, there can never be development in a country. This is where the PDP led government has failed the people and APC this around will affect the change”
Buhari said his administration will revitalize the power sector and carry out a revolution in the agricultural sector as well as harness abundant mineral resources in the country in order that idle youths can be gainfully employed.
“We are going to encourage large scale farming to help the youths, who constitute 60 per cent of the population in getting gainful employment”
“We will ensure that schools are built and quality teachers are employed to teach the students because they are the future of this great nation. We are not going to run a presidency that will be detached from the grassroots”. He said
The APC presidential candidate then urged party faithfuls to ensure that they exercise their franchise by voting APC from top to the bottom in order to kick the PDP government out of power.
“I want you to vote APC all the way and do not give the PDP any chance. We will ensure that all the seats are captured by the APC, even a position of a counselor should not be given to the party”
“What you can do to help us is to collect your permanent voter cards and vote during the election. You should not only vote, you must ensure that your votes count”
Buhari’s running mate, Prof. Yemi Osibajo (SAN) said the PDP was scheming for postponement of the election because it was afraid of defeat in the election.
He said, “The PDP is afraid of defeat. Jonathan and his people are jittery and that was why they wanted the polls to be shifted but Nigerians must resist this attempt”
“They are afraid of Buhari because they know he will probe the finances of the country and stop this corruption at all cost. With this support we have been getting from Nigerians, no magic can make Jonathan win this election”
