The Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria has given Governor Badaru a National award as the best governor of the year in the area of health care facilities in the state.
The award was given at their 16th annual public health lecture series held at sir Ahmadu Bello hall in Jigawa state.
The lecture whose theme was “integrated disease testing a high-impact public health laboratory diagnosis and disease surveillance intervention had a large number of participants in attendance.
This year’s National public health lecture series is unique as it is the first national event taking place in Jigawa state since its creation as a state.
The National Executive Officer of the Association expressed their profound gratitude to Jigawa state governor Alhaji Badaru Abubakar who agree to serve as the special guest of honour and also to declare the occasion open.
The national president of the association professor James Garba Damen appealed to the Jigawa state government to provide land for the association’s Jigawa state chapter to enable them to build their Secretariat.
He said Jigawa state is among the state in the federation that contributed toward the development of health sectors in the area of health structure, working facilities and manpower, and front payment of workers’ salaries.
While responding governor Badaru Abubakar said Jigawa state government is fully aware of their role playing, adding that the Jigawa state medical laboratory has done well during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He assured them that in one week’s time the state government will provide land for the association. to build their office and assured them that they are waiting to see the National Headquarters’ commitment for the construction of the state chapter office then the state will bring it to own financial support.
