Alleged Killing Of Driver, Late Sadik Karafa  By Soldiers, Military Sets Up Committee

The Nigeria Military on Friday, the 10th day of September 2021 denied beaten a commercial driver Sadik Adamu Karafa to death in Jos by Soldiers.

Following the ongoing 10 pm curfew imposed in Jos by the Plateau State Government, the driver identified as Abubakar Sadiq, while driving before the curfew hours was apprehended at Farin Gada axis by military officers on duty and it was alleged that they gave him the beating of his life.

In a statement made available to journalists in Jos by Major Ishaku Takwal says the STF, and 3Div commander has set up an investigative panel to unravel the cause.

According to sources, Mr. Sadiq was beaten with a stick after he was ordered to step down from his car by the officers.

The soldiers called his relatives in the morning and ordered them to take the corpse of Sadik to the Hospital.

The victim was thereafter brought to the Katako Police Station this morning. Further details show that Sadiq is a resident of Angwan Rimi and a father of 4 children and 1 wife with an ailing mother.

The commander of the OPSH and GOC 3rd Armoured Division has visited the bereaved family and condole with them where he vowed to investigate the matter and bring the erring soldiers to justice.

The deceased is yet to be buried as necessary investigations are ongoing.

Operation SAFE HAVEN received with shock a report by security personnel of OPSH deployed at Farin Gada beat and murdered a commercial taxi driver Mr Abdullahi Karafa.

Immediately after the report was received, the commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN Major General Ibrahim Ali visited the deceased family and condole them after the unfortunate incident.

The commander has since constituted a board of inquiry to unravel those behind the heinous act. He assured that those who would be found culpable will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

 

Operation SAFE HAVEN wishes to reiterate that troops deployed on the Plateau were always warned to conduct themselves in the most professional manner in line with global best practices and respect for the fundamental human rights of the citizenry and strict adherence to rules of engagement. Therefore, any act short of this is condemnable and unacceptable by OPSH.
