Al-Makura To Collect Loan Again To Pay Local Govt Workers

Nasarawa State government says it would collect loan for the second time due to delay in holding meeting of Federal Allocation Account Committee to enable its pay December salaries to Local government workers before Christmas.

The Commissioner for Local Government, and Chieftaincy Affairs disclosed this on Monday during the Joint Account Committee meeting in Lafia.

Describing the meeting as an extra ordinary and combined meeting, adding that there is no money to share just like the last meeting due to lack of allocation from the Federal Government.

“This is the second time the meeting is holding without a table on how salaries would be paid to each LGA in the state”.

“As a responsible government, given our determination to pay Local Government workers their December salaries before Christmas”.

“The management of the various Local government would have to wait for allocation before they receive their overhead as it is not economically wise to borrow for overhead,” he said.

He added that the government has to augment the salary with over N135 million.
