The Adamawa Progressive Elders Council (APEC) has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for re-election in the 2027 general elections, reaffirming its loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its commitment to strengthening party unity and cohesion in Adamawa State.
The endorsement was announced following a well-attended meeting of the Council held at Muna Hotel in Yola.
APEC, an APC support group, was established based on the recommendations of the party’s Reconciliation Committee and subsequently adopted by the Leader of the APC in Adamawa State.
The Council was constituted to promote peace, reconciliation, and internal harmony within the party, with a mandate to build a strong and inclusive APC structure capable of delivering President Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 electoral cycle.
In a statement signed by Ahmad Sajoh, fnipr, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee, the meeting was presided over by the Chairman of the Council and attracted prominent party stakeholders.
Attendees included a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, former governors, serving and former ministers, former members of the National and State Assemblies, former state cabinet members, current federal appointees, and other senior APC leaders from across Adamawa State. Members of the state APC leadership were also present.
According to Sajoh, a major highlight of the meeting was a goodwill message from the Leader of the APC in Adamawa State, delivered through the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development. He said the message boosted morale and reinforced the Council’s resolve to remain steadfast in the discharge of its responsibilities.
The meeting also adopted an eight-point communiqué signed by Abubakar Halilu Girei the Vice Chairman of the Council, and Olvadi Bema Madayi, the Secretary. In the communiqué, the Council expressed appreciation to the party leader in the state and the state APC leadership for establishing the Council and for their continued support.
The Council reaffirmed its absolute loyalty to the APC and unanimously endorsed President Tinubu for a second term in 2027, citing his leadership style, reform agenda, and commitment to national development.
Members also commended the President for appointing the Leader of the APC in Adamawa State to what they described as a sensitive and strategic position in government, as well as for other federal appointments granted to indigenes of the state.
As a mark of appreciation, the Council resolved to organise a grand rally and reception in honour of all political appointees, in recognition of what it termed the President’s goodwill towards Adamawa State.
The communiqué further reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to its founding resolutions, including the provision requiring any member with electoral ambitions to resign from the Council in order to preserve its neutrality and moral authority.
Members also pledged full support to the Chairman and Steering Committee in developing operational frameworks and timelines for the effective functioning of the Council.
The Council further resolved to cascade its activities to local government and ward levels to strengthen grassroots engagement, enable early identification of disputes, and ensure timely conflict resolution.
The meeting approved the establishment of four standing committees: Finance and General Purpose Committee, chaired by Mrs. Olvadi Bema Madayi; Contact and Mobilisation Committee, chaired by Chief Joel Hammanjoda Madaki; Conflict Resolution Committee, chaired by Prof. Tahir Mamman, SAN; and Media and Publicity Committee, chaired by Ahmad Sajoh.
