The Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Kaletapwa Farauta, has commended the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for its proactive initiatives and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting national emergency preparedness and response efforts.
Farauta made the remarks while receiving a delegation from NEMA’s Abuja office, led by Mallam Abbani Imam Garki, the Team Leader of the 2025 National Preparedness Response Committee (NPRC), during a courtesy visit to her office.
She expressed appreciation for NEMA’s consistent interventions in Adamawa, particularly during disaster situations, and assured that the advocacy knowledge shared would be cascaded down to flood-prone communities through the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA).
“The government has prioritized infrastructural development not only for the present but for generations yet unborn. We have also put mechanisms in place to protect these developments from destruction,” the Deputy Governor said.
Highlighting the state’s proactive approach to flood prediction and mitigation, Farauta noted that the government continues to engage with communities to enhance preparedness and safeguard lives and property.
She called on NEMA, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), and the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) to support local farmers with drought-resistant crops as part of broader efforts to address climate change impacts.
In his remarks, Malam Abbani Imam Garki said the visit aimed to formally engage the state government on the objectives of the 2025 NPRC exercise and to strengthen collaboration between NEMA and Adamawa State in bolstering disaster preparedness and emergency response.
He emphasized the vital role of state-level partnerships in achieving effective disaster risk reduction and enhancing resilience. Garki also commended the Adamawa State Government for its strides in infrastructural transformation.
