I have decided to devote this article to honour the appointment of Alh. Abubakar Kari, the man who has been described variously in many quaters as the man of purpose and foresight, a mentor for many people, a man who have silently and successful inspired humanity, a dynamic Nigerian, an advocates for peace and justice, a revolutionary politician and as well as a consummate administrator and above all, a God-fearing person who is indeed, a blessing to the good people of Bauchi state in particular and Nigeria as a whole.
To say that the appointment of Alh. Abubakar Kari as the Chief of Staff (CoS) by Governor Bala Mohammed is deserving is an understatement.
The appointment did not come on the platter of gold. It came as a result of his dedication, competence, hard work and painstaking diligence.
This is because of the roles he has played in building a virile state of Bauchi and Nigeria.
Alh. Abubakar Kari has paid his dues in the state and the country having worked in various sensitive
positions in the state and country.
I was not surprised at all about Kari’s appointment. This is because apart from his wide
experience in public and private sector, he is an easy-going and quiet personality who has made his marks in his chosen career through his diligence and hard work as well as honesty and trustworthiness which won him admiration and respect from his superiors, peers and subordinates alike.
His brilliance and expertise endeared him to the former Governor Mal. (Dr.) Isah Yuguda who engaged him as his Special Adviser on Special Duties.
By the end of Mal. (Dr.) Isah Yuguda’s two glorious terms from 2007 to 2015. It was clear to most people in the government (and even outside) that Alh. Abubakar Kari served without any personal baggage or scandal, it is beyond dispute that he was well prepared for the job.
His commitment to duty, honesty, loyalty and humane attitude was very apparent and hence caught the attention of Governor Bala Mohammed who appointed him as Chief of Staff shortly after his inauguration on May 29th 2019.
And since then he has carried on with decorum and high sense of responsibility.
The office of the Chief of Staff CoS) is the hub of government, and Alh. Abubakar Kari is not a novice to government.
He is coming in with a formidable and intimidating resume, replete with sound educational, private and public background. Armed with two degrees from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He is well respected as a towering figure from all corners of the state and indeed, the nation.
Perhaps, his distinguishing features are, he is a detribalized Nigerian and avowed citizen of the global community.
His contributions to the growth of democracy in the state and the country has earned him several national recognitions and he has acquited himself very well in serving the state and country.
I have gone this far to eulogies Alh. Abubakar Kari to dispels the wrong impression created about his appointment by some doubting Thomases.
I write this article bearing in mind that once individual throws his hat in the political ring he is bound to attract what may be described as ‘erasures’ and the tendency is that you get all manner of tantrum from some quarters.
For avoidance of doubts, Alh. Abubakar Kari is relentlessly discharging his responsibilities as Chief of Staff to Governor Bala Mohammed with unalloyed loyalty, commitment and devotion to his duties.
He has so far brought integrity, competence, wisdom, maturity and uncommon grace to that office.
Alh. Abubakar Kari is a compassionate person as personified by the way he is respected within and outside the state. One of my colleagues in Bauchi (Shaiubu Ndah fondly call ‘Mallam-Wani’ ), recently described Kari as a self-made man who is
always out to impact positively on the lives of people who come into contact with him.
With Alh. Abubakar Kari’s track record of achievements in different capacities and positions of responsibility. I have no doubt in my mind that Governor Bala Mohammed will be justified by the appointment as the entire stakeholders will cooperate with him in promoting the progressive agenda of governor Bala Mohammed to tackles the numerous problems before it.
I wish him success and almighty God’s guidance.
This writer equally appeals to all the good people of Bauchi state and beyond to support the newly appointed Chief of Staff (CoS) Alh. Abubakar Kari in the discharge of his assignments in these somewhat difficult times.
Alh. Abubakar Kari deserve the appointment. He also deserve our prayers, support and cooperation.
