9 States Now Enjoy Free Meals Promised By Federal Government, Says Ag President

The Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has said two hundred seventy thousand, six hundred and twenty (1,274,620) pupils in Nine thousand two hundred and twelve (9,212) schools in Nine states have started benefiting from free meals.

Represented by the Commissioner for Special duties, Hon, Dr, Hitter Dadi at the children Day celebration, as he reiterated the commitment of this administration to ensuring that the rights of the Nigerian child are protected.

He urged states to replicate these programs but also adopt laws and policies that would bring an end to violence against children and other cultural practices that hinder their development.

Osinbajo called on states MDAs and non-governmental organizations to work together to come up with strategic plans of action aimed at successful implementation of the SDGs and harnessing the opportunities of such for the benefit the child.

The Plateau state Commissioner for Women Affairs Hon ( Mrs Rufina Gurumyen ) has reaffirmed government commitment to reflect on the roles and responsibility of child right act .

Mrs Gurumyen stated this on Saturday at Children Day celebration held in Rwang Pam stadium were emphasize administration provision to qualitative education of children .

She said the administration will focus on addressing the terrible scourge of sexual violence against children towards strengthening more advocacies on this issue as well as the capacity to enforce existing regulations.

The commissioner maintained that, her office last embark on campaign to end child marriage which was launched by the federal government of Nigeria to ensure that many Nigerian children fully enjoy their childhood.

She called on parents to support the establishment of a robust mechanism to response to violence against children, were the ministry of women Affairs and social development has commenced the process of modeling the protection system in eight States.
