The Graduated Class of set 1983 from Government Teachers College, Keffi now Government College has honoured Prince Gangtim Edward Cirdap Zhattau with a certificate for touching the lives of his classmates that were not as privileged in the area of human achievement.
Prince Zhattau stated this in an exclusive interview held at Sabon Barkin of Jos South Local Government Council of Plateau State on Sunday.
He said the award would spur him to do more to the development of his classmates because of the contributions the set 83 carefully selected us in building our former colleagues whom we completed together and they are not privileged.
According to him, as our colleagues we saw the need for us to assist them so the Union came together and organized an award night to encourage us.
Gangtim Zhattau reiterated that the standard of education in Nigeria compared to our own time, we have all what its take to go to schools because of the educational materials and the quality of the teachers but now the world is dynamic where a lot of things are changing.
“I want to believe recent concentration if government reconsiders the sector it would meet up the quality of the former standard. We have everything as a country and what it takes to go back to the drawing board to make all the necessary adjustments.
” The Educational sector what we were trained to do is that I personally realized that government give more attention on building standard of education and all the students were properly prepared,” he stated
He disclosed that the federal and state government should improve the conduct of students and teachers to provide standard of learning.
Speaking further, Zhattau explained that parental backgrounds that the parents need to be empowered to get their children’s education affordable which is key to a better Nigeria.
He maintained that education is support to be expensive anywhere in the world today that is where you see there is a subsidy on education but if there is no subsidy on education it might affect the quality because education will be very difficult if the government can’t allow people to work hard to get empowerment of parents, then we are good to go.
Zhattau stressed that Government College Keffi is not only renowned in Plateau state but across the 36 states of the federation, we are almost the best school in Nigeria which is why this award brought people across the length and breadth of the country.
We used to have people coming from Maiduguri, people like General Kazil , Kno Alh. Habib the former accountant general of Kano state and a host of others in Benue, Nasarawa remember we used to have 12 states to 19 states now 36 states and the government College is in the heart of northern Nigeria.
