75 Killed, 70 Houses Set Ablaze As Fresh Fight Breaks Out Between Eggon And Fulanis In Nasarawa

The crisis in of violence and killings in Nasarawa State may have made a return following a renewed violence and killings in some parts of the state.  As gathered by universalreporters over 75 people have been killed in the fresh fight between mercenary brought by the Fulanis and the Eggon people.

The fight which was at an alarming rate yesterday, has also left several people homeless as over 70 houses has been set ablaze.

The fight which took place in Tudun Adabu in Obi local government area of the state, according to an eyewitness said the fight was at first between the Eggon people and Fulani herdsmen in Assakio, headquarters of Lafia East development area of the state, further on spread to Tudun Adabu, Wamba, Akwanga and Nasarawa Eggon local governments leaving scores dead and rendering thousands of people homeless.

This paper gathered that the people of Assakio, Tudun Adabu and Dedere have abandoned their homes as a result of the crisis in the areas, even as the victims  from the troubled areas were seen moving their children and property to Lafia town.

As gathered by this paper, the Eggon people during the Ramadan fasting killed one Fulani, a situation which the Fulanis said they would not retaliate due to the period of fasting they are in then, however the Fulanis have come back since the fasting is over and they have to seek retaliation in this magnitude.

It was also that the fight which started two days ago, shows that the four persons from Alago  were killed by the Eggon and the Alago revenged and later joined hand with the Fulanis Mercenaries to fight the Eggons.

Distraught members of the affected communities told Vanguard that trouble started when the Eggon people who were fighting against the Fulanis discovered that the Alago youths had joined forces with the Fulani mercenaries to fight them.

As also gathered this made the Eggons to begin to shot against the Alago at Tudun Adabu where over 75 person died and many people injured, universalreporters also learnt that the Fulanis are now in Alakyo  the headquarters of the Eggon people.
