The frontier counsel to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Chief Mike Ozhekome, SAN, has assured that the remaining seven (7) count charges preferred against the freedom of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, MNK, by Federal Government of Nigeria, FGN, will never ever stand.
SAN Ozhekome stated the above comments while addressing newsmen shortly after Friday, April 8th 2022 court proceedings at the Federal High Court Abuja where the presiding judge, Justice Binta Nyako, struck out 8 of the 15 count charges against the leader of the proscribed group- IPOB.
According to him ”You can not build something on nothing and expect it to stand, the remaining 7 count charges are groundless, baseless and will not stand”
The count charges struck out by Justice Binta Nyako includes: that of 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 14 stating that those charges does not have any offense against the defendant.
The remaining counts to be faced by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 15 which the Justice Nyako said the defendant has case to answer.
The Federal High Court adjourned the case to 18th and 26th May 2022 for the continuation of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s trial and bail application.
