6 Year Old Emma, A HIV/AIDS Victim Is Not Our Patient-Management Of DASH, Lafia

The Management of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia has debunked a newspaper publication (Eyewitness) that the hospital neglected a six year old boy,Emmanuel Alaku who was infected with HIV/AIDS by a quack doctor in Iwashi community of Doma Local Government of Nasarawa state.

The Chief Medical Director, Dr.Ahmed Yakubu Ashuku in an exclusive interview described the report as mere fabrication of Information tantamount to discredit the good reputation of the hospital.

Dr.Ashuku said the hospital has set up a committee to unraveled the real issue at stake,adding that the six year Emmanuel Alaku has no single medical record in the hospital to attest that he was abandoned by the hospital.

“From our investigation we discovered that Alaku is not our patient because no file number was captured in the report, medication and consultation of HIV/AIDS victims is free and why will the treatment of Emma be an exceptional case,” asked the Chief Medical Director.

“The child did not commit any crime to be abandoned, as you can see DASH is a referral centre for People Leaving with HIV AIDS “. (PLWHA), he added.

“For your Information we got commendation from U.S Ambassador to Nigeria in that area”.

Dr. Ahmed Yakubu Ashuku confided that over 15,000 HIV/AIDS victims are receiving treatment in the hospital.

Dorcas Alaku,mother to the ailing Emmanuel in a telephone interview by universalreporters247.com when asked whether she obtained a patient card or file number, said she did not have any medical record from Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital.

Mama Emma did not confirm which part of the hospital abandoned her son; she affirmed that her son presently is receiving treatment at Nasarawa Eggon General Hospital.

“Our predicament now is how to source money for medications, in fact his condition especially epilepsy has become worse now”.

Appealing to the state government and the affluent in the society to come to the rescue of their son whose health is depreciating on daily bases.

Jonathan Sidi, a quack doctor who infected young Emmanuel with HIV/AIDS through blood transfusion barely five months and has been remanded in Lafia prison.

The killer doctor was in September last year nab by the Nigeria Security And Civil Defense Corp in an attempt to run away from justice.
