New Ganye Chairman Targets Rural Roads, Healthcare, Youth Empowerment

Hanny Henry

Puren Kamsobi, the newly sworn-in Chairman of Ganye Local Government Area, has unveiled an ambitious rural development agenda centred on road construction, primary healthcare, youth empowerment and the harnessing of the area’s natural resources to boost economic growth.

Speaking with journalists shortly after his inauguration by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House Banquet Hall in Yola, Kamsobi said his administration would prioritise projects that directly improve the lives of rural residents and complement the development strides of the Adamawa State Government.

He said the council would replicate Governor Fintiri’s urban renewal programme by extending critical infrastructure to rural communities, with particular emphasis on constructing and rehabilitating roads to ease transportation, improve access to markets and stimulate local economic activities.

The chairman also pledged to strengthen primary healthcare services across the local government by improving health facilities and ensuring that residents, especially those in remote communities, have better access to quality healthcare.

Kamsobi identified youth development as another key priority, promising to introduce programmes that would create employment opportunities, promote entrepreneurship and equip young people with skills needed for self-reliance.

He added that his administration would leverage Ganye’s abundant natural resources to attract investments, expand economic opportunities and increase internally generated revenue, while ensuring that development benefits reach communities across the council.

Commenting on the political atmosphere in the state, Kamsobi commended Governor Fintiri for fostering what he described as a culture of politics without bitterness, saying the peaceful conduct of the local government elections reflected the governor’s commitment to democratic values and political tolerance.

According to him, the inclusive political environment created by the governor has strengthened public confidence in governance and laid a solid foundation for sustainable grassroots development.

He pledged to run an open, transparent and accountable administration focused on delivering tangible dividends of democracy to the people of Ganye.
