418 Public Schools In Nasarawa State Gets Instructional Materials Worth N70 Million

A total of 418 Public Secondary Schools in Nasarawa State got  instructional materials worth over N70 million

 

The State Commissioner of Education, Science, and Technology, Hajiya Fati Sabo gave the disclosure during the distribution of the items on Thursday in Lafia.

 

She explained that the items distributed include; Science equipment, Technical equipment, English, Mathematics, and textbooks in major subjects, and teaching aids.

 

The Commissioner said the distribution of the items was in fulfillment of the promises of Governor Abdullahi Sule to improve the quality of education.

 

Fati commended the Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule for giving priority to the education sector, which was why education was given over 30 percent in the 2021 budget of the state.

 

She added that the Governor Abdullahi Sule-led administration in the last two years has demonstrated determination to improve the quality of education to meet global standards.

 

Stating that the ministry is currently carrying out massive rehabilitation of schools and construction of parameters fencing to protect school lands from encroachment.

 

She also said that in 2020, the Government had distributed bed and mattresses, chairs, mosquito nets, COVID-19 protective kits, upkeep to Chief Inspectors of Education and Science, and Technical equipment to the public schools including private schools.

 

The Commissioner further said that the Government is feeding students from the 28 boarding schools in the state.

 

The Commissioner also said that the Governor employed 2, 250 teachers to improve the number of teachers given the spread of public schools and to reduce the rate of unemployment.

 

Hajiya Fati Sabi therefore, said that the ministry has already set up the machinery to monitor the items against diversion and warned that anyone caught diverting the items would face serious disciplinary action.

 

Alaku Namo, while Responding to the Chief Inspector of Education of Mada Station Area Office commended the Governor and the Commissioner for the wonderful work they are doing to transform the sector.

 

He, therefore, said they would distribute the items to all schools under their supervision and monitor to ensure that Principals allow teachers to make use of them for the benefit of the students
