2023 Imo East Senate : Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu-Ada Owere Holds  Town Hall Meeting With Ndi Owerri Zone

Ahead of the 2023 General Elections in Nigeria, the wife of the Ondo State Governor, Chief Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, (Owere 1) who is a native of Owerri West LGA of Imo State but married to Ondo State,  courtesy of her political aspiration to represent the people of Owerri Zone in the House of Senate at Abuja, come 2023, was on Sunday, April 10th 2022 held a successful ground breaking Townhall Meeting for Ndi-Owerri Zone.

The theme of the townhall meeting:” Disruptive Thinking, An Inevitable Panacea For Sustainable Development”.

The meeting which took place at Goshen Anglican Retreat Center, New Owerri Area of Imo State, attracted so many notable political juggernauts, technocrats, youths, women, religious leaders and Traditional Rulers from across the Nine (9) Local Govt.Areas that made up Owerri Zone.

During the summit, those in attendance who gladly graced the occasion amidst intellectual discussions that aimed at improving the lives of the people of Owerri Zone, when Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu is elected into power as their senator in 2023, promised to support the senatorial bids of Ada Owerri.

In her 12 pages written handbook presented, the Ondo State First Lady, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, expressed gladness and felicitations to the people of Owerri Zone.

According to her handbook, ” Betty’s team took time to diligently design the engagement with objectives to engender robust conversations, achieve agenda setting for Owerri Zone and to secure the buy-in of relevant stakeholders for the paradigm shift”.

The Imo-Emeabiam-Born-Ondo State First Lady, in her synopsis of her personality/experiences described her status as a woman- daughter (Mgboto) as a symbol of disruptive thinking, added that she have set out to change the status-quo or shake the table to it’s foundation.

“I am from Emeabiam Owerri West by birth and blood which marriage cannot unmake;

For the records, I am the daughter of a renowned Headmaster, Late Chief BUB Anyanwu, and his wife, Late Nneoma Dora Anyanwu, both of the blessed memory, and as such, I echo even from the mountain tops that no level of partriachal tendencies can wish this assertion of my root;

I am the daughter of BUB, (Ada Headmaster) and was raised by my parents as a child not as a girl, consequently, I grew up knowing no inhibition as a female, rather I was raised to aspire higher and become whatsoever I want to be;

Woman is of great value ( Nwanyiwuihe) following an honor bestowed upon me as Maternal Special Daughter. It is a sense of belonging and recognition sparkles my passion as a daughter of Ndi-Owerri-Zone in particular and Ndi-Igbo at large”, Betty submitted.

The Ondo First Lady, who is also Owerri Zone Senatorial hopeful, while speaking expressed worry over what she tagged as zero town planning and uncoordinated building constructions near absence of basic infrastructure and indiscriminate dumping of refuse which is identified as a major indicator of third world nation obviously witnessed  at the two frontier of citadel of learning: FUTO and FEDPONEK, but she promised to restore sanity in the zone, if elected as a senator, come 2023.

Making the horizon and frontiers of her world view, Chief Mrs.Anyanwu-Akeredolu, reckoned that culture is dynamic and that perceptions that retard development must be discarded in order to more with time, noted that a female child (Mgboto) like herself with proven capacity should be supported to win elections.

On the issue of Structural functionalism, Ada Owere 1, presented a scientific and empirical evidence to support a nexus on ”Dozie-Mezie Owerri” in this discourse, which adopted as a known Social Science Theory of Structural-Functionalism which is a school of thought where institutions, relationship, roles and norms which together constitute a society serves purpose and each is indispensable for the continued existence of the others and of society as a whole.

“Paradigm shift, a postulation of structural functionalism, Lady Anyanwu-Akeredolu, recognized the audience in a special gathering and observers in the communities, even as she recommended the leadership of Dozie-Mezie Owerri, to reflect on and consider inclusion of the position structure as the conscience of Ndi-Owerri-Zone”.

In her recommendation, Betty called, “For established systems for screening, clearance and emergence of credible persons in community leadership ( Eze’s/PG’s) and representations such that the best first eleven (11) will emerge particularly political representations at all levels;

Introduction of mechanism that facilitate checks, leadership, stewardship accounts and performance appraisal outcome of which should determine the decision to withdraw or extend continued support to political representatives”.

She more so, supported that states, ” Train a girl-child, you have trained a nation”.

Meanwhile, the Ondo State First Lady, has earlier expressed her optimism of emerging victorious in the forthcoming polls in Owerri Zone, come 2023.

Some notable and highly respected sons of Owerri Zone who were present includes: Sir.Fidel Onyeneke, Evangelist Tony Grey Okpe, Bestoption Ujunwa Kelechi Okere.

Other distinguished persons are: Some Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders, Youths, Women and some other top leaders from the zone.

It is on record on how so many political juggernauts from Owerri Zone Senatorial District who graced the event, satisfactorily added their great intellectual inputs at the discussions held on the occasion of successful townhall meeting organized by the incoming Owerri Zone Senate hopeful, Ada Owere.
