2023: 104 APC Aspirants Looking  For Jigawa House Of Assembly Seats

It has been confirmed by the state APC chairman in Jigawa state Alhaji Aminu Sani Gumel that 104 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC are looking for the party’s tickets that will enable them to contest the 30 seats in the Jigawa State House of Assembly.

The Chairman of APC in the state, Alhaji Aminu Sani, said this to newsmen today in Dutse.

“We’ve so far sold 104 forms for House of Assembly to those aspiring to contest the 30 assembly seats in Jigawa.

“But I cannot tell you the number of governorship and National Assembly forms from the Jigawa since they were sold to the aspirants by the national party,”  Sani has said.

He, however, said no single female aspirant from the 30 constituencies in the state purchased the form.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 104 aspirants consisted of incumbent members and those contesting for the first time.

When contacted by our reporter  the APC Women Leader in the state, Hajiya Dayyaba Shuaibu, gwaram said three women had earlier indicated their interest to contest the seats 

“Three women contacted me that they want to contest for the State Assembly.

“But very unfortunately I traveled to Saudi Arabia for Lesser Hajj and those women was not able to buy their forms.

“When I returned, they told me that they did not know that the forms were being sold until after the exercise,” Shuaibu has confirmed.

When asked whether the women were prevented or intimidated from buying the forms, she said: “Nobody stopped or prevented them from doing so”.

According to her, the women were even directed to contact their ward chairmen and state chairman of the party for their ambitions.

“Unfortunately again, the state chairman was also in Saudi Arabia for Lesser Hajj, but they were able to meet with the deputy, who assured them they were entitled to buy forms and contest the election.

“But since I was in Saudi Arabia, they couldn’t buy the forms since I was the one guiding and encouraging them. So we’re targeting next election to see that such women participate,” the women leader has said.

She, however, disclosed that two women from the Kazaure area of the state have purchased forms for National Assembly seats.

Dayyaba, who could not immediately give the names of the two female aspirants, said they were already screened.
