Powerful caucus leaders within the Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) are working on a rainbow coalition to secure electoral victory in the 2002 governorship election, an investigation by our team has revealed.
Insiders in the know of the agenda disclosed that despite the disputes over the leadership of the PDP at the state level, concerted moves are on to build a strong opposition coalition against the re-election of Governor Isiaka Oyetola.
According to multiple sources, the plan is premised on many factors chief among which is an inclusive plan which guaranteed a stake for all members and camps in the grand coalition.
” Osun people are yearning for new leadership. So we reasoned that an inclusive coalition of party interests in the state will easily secure victory next year. All coalition members will have a place for representation in the government that will eventually emerge. We are not working on winners take all. No. All parties to the victory will have a place in the new government”, a top party leader leading the agenda posited.
Speaking further, he hinted that “the strongest camp within the PDP will get the governorship ticket. Other camps within the party will also get slots across the board. The non-PDP coalition members will also have a place, either elective or appointive.
“We are moving fast to build the coalition. The infighting within PDP is about camps waiting to claim a share of the pie. This is recognized too. But all reviews within and outside the state show that Ademola Adeleke is best as the coalition candidate to easily best Oyetola next. He is the most popular with a war chest, qualification, and affinity with the voters.
