The silence of the National Working Committee, NWC of the All Progressive Congress, APC, over the conduct of the last Governorship Primary has been identified as a major Problem that may lead to the loosing of Bauchi Governorship seat by the All progressive Congress APC in the forth coming February General election, Coalition of the APC Support Groups stated this in Bauchi over the weekend at a Press Conference held at the Nigerian Union of Journalist NUJ Bauchi.
Spokesmen of the groups Ibrahim Bello and Salisu Yerima that led hundreds of their supporters said the party has every chance to capture the governorship seat of the State because of the desire of the people of Bauchi for change , but the inability of the NWC to conclude pending issues and complaints raised by six out of the eight gubernatorial aspirants that contested the primary may led to the members to feel that they were treated unjustly and feel unjust, will definitely affect the chances of the party to win the governorship election.
The leaders of the group said every member of the party deserved to be treated with fair and just that was the reason why we submitted our complaints over the irregularities and violation of the laws of the primary election that marred the conduct of the entire exercise.
Bello said part of the irregularities was the inability of the electoral committee to provide the aspirants with the list of eligible delegates, and it’s inability to allow all the delegates to come to the election venue with their membership card for identification.
He said a total of 2854 delegates were registered before the commencement of the election, 2945 votes were cast, 30 votes were invalid which gave 91 votes over, despite desperate attempts by the chairman of the election committee to reduced the over voting, it stands at 41 and because of that all agents of the aspirants refused to sign the result.
Yerima said since when the disputed result was announced there was serious political turmoil and unless NWC investigate and ensure Justice and fairness APC will lose Bauchi in 2015
They appeal to General Muhammadu Buhari and the NWC of the committee of the party to intervene and do justice to all before the coming of General Buhari for presidential campaign in Bauchi.
