The leader of Peoples Democratic Party in Borno state,Hon Mohammed Wakil has hailed the military for successful defence of Maiduguri before and after the presidential campaign rally, condoling victims of recent attacks in Monguno and other parts of the state.
In a statement issued in Abuja and personally signed by the party leader, the repelling of attacks on Maiduguri was described as “heroic” and “a demonstration of President Goodluck Jonathan’s commitment to tame and wipe out the insurgents.
“On behalf of our good people of Borno state, we commend the military, allied security agencies and civilian JTF for successfully repelling attacks on Maiduguri. Our military proved that the turning point in the war against insurgents is around the corner.
“Our military is been re-equipped; our forces are been re-trained and we will surely recapture all territories. We commend our servicemen operating under difficult circumstances. Nigeria and people of Borno are grateful”, the party leader said.
On attacks in other parts of the state, Wakil who is also the Minister of State Power condoled with Monguno people, praying Almighty Allah “to grant our military victory over the insurgents.
“On behalf of Mr President and other leaders of PDP, I convey our heartfelt condolence. As Mr President said on Saturday, we are all in pain and we are not resting in our push to defeat insurgents, the minister said.
