Over 200 women in Jigawa state has received a total of N2 million as part of the national women empowerment fund which was initiated by the federal government of Nigeria with a view to assist women group across the nation to boost their economic activities.
The State Commissioner for Women Affairs Hajia Ladi Ibrahim Dansure confirmed the story shortly after screening and disbursement of the money to 200 women groups from various local government areas in the state to boost their local trades.
The Commissioner said the federal government had released two million naira for two hundred women in Jigawa as pilot sample to start the project in the state while assuring that after Sallah break other group of 500 women name will be released for their own.
The Commissioner assured any women who is not from Jigawa state and her name appears in the list will be canceled from the list forwarded because this programmed is a nationwide project they will not allowed other people from other state to dominate the Jigawa projects.
Therefore it is an open programmed they will not allowed women from somewhere to come and hijack Jigawa projects while their quarter is there in their respective state of origin, she explained further that after sallah break, arrangements has been made to screen 500 women that will also collect the sum of N100, 000 each which will make a total of N5 million.
She also stated that the youths are now taking their registration under GEEP project in the state in which a total of 27000 youths will be engaged in the programme to collect the sum of thirty thousand naira each as financial support to boost their economic activities.
Hajiya ladi stated that the state government has assigned all the Commissioners in the state to be part of the screening committee in their respective local government to screen the youths who applied for the exercise for the benefit of the projects.
She assured that all the beneficiaries are expected to pay the money through bank by funding N4000 monthly through their bank where the money will be given to them as soft loan for others to benefit in the near future.
