19 Accused Persons Plead Not Guilty To Two Count Charges Over Killing Rtd General Alkali

The Nineteen accused persons have been arranged in court in connection with killing of Rtd Major General Idris Alkali have been charged to court on two count charges of conspiracy and culpable homicide.

 

The Registrar of the court read the charges to all the accused persons and they all pleaded not guilty to the charges before the Plateau State High court 5 on Monday, 5th November, 2018 in Jos.

 

The Prosecution counsel, Barr Emmanuel O. Ochoaba told journalists that what happened in court was just transparent way of bringing the accused persons in court based on the offense they committed.

 

According to him, when the charged was read to them they all pleaded not guilty to the charges but they would be remanded in prison custody until the hearing commences on the 10th  December, 2018 .

 

He disclosed that today as a prosecution counsel ,he presented his exparte application in court which was granted audience by the court as the accused persons will be remanded in prison custody pending when the case come up for hearing.

 

Meanwhile, the counsel to the nineteen persons accused Barr Gyang Zi said all the accused persons have pleaded not guilty to the charges read but that they are pushing their application for bail before the court.

 

He expressed satisfaction that now that they didn’t pleaded guilty to the charges, they are going to be remanded in prison custody until the hearing commences.

 

However, the accused persons had made their first appearance in court as they pleaded not guilty.

 

The presiding judge, Justice Daniel Longji adjourned the matter to 10th December, 2018 for the hearing to begin.

 

He stated that in view of the pleading of the accused persons defendant counsel, we have fixed a date to enable them completed their process of filing in court.
