Eighteen passengers on board a bus owned by a commercial transport company, Peace Mass Transit were today roasted to death at Okada village along the busy Benin-Ore-Lagos expressway when a truck load with granites lost one of its tyres and crashed into the bus heading to Lagos from Onitsha in Anambra state.

Efforts by Federal Roads Safety Corps officials, the police and other road users who mobilized to rescue some of the victims amounted to nothing as fuel spilled from the two crashed vehicles leading to heavy flames which roasted all the bus passengers beyond recognition.
Edo State Sector Commander of the FRSC,  Kenneth Nwaegbe who confirmed the accident said among the dead were 15 adults and two kids.“What happened was that the Mac truck was carrying gravel and was coming from Ore to Benin when it lost one of its tyres and control. And the Toyota bus was coming from Benin to Lagos when the two collided”, he added.
He said burnt bodies of the passengers had been deposited at the Universiry of Benin Teaching Hospital(UBTH) morgue.
