1,500 Persons To Benefit From ECWA Free Medical Service In Gombe By Kalshingi H Jedidah

About 1,500 persons are expected to benefit from the free medical service organized by Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) GRA Gombe.

One of the chief organisers Dr James Mahdi told journalists in Gombe that the free medical health care commences today Monday.

According to him medical experts who are and Board of the church elders jointly organized the program with a view to sensitize members on dangers of diseases, early detection, and prevention.

“We the medical practitioners and the board of elders have deemed it fit that the church members should benefit through the health manpower who are the members of the church. We are carrying health week for the church and it is the first of its kind, and the idea was to sensitize and create awareness among members about diseases, the need for early detection and referral for treatment” he said.

According to him, the programme would concentrate more in screening of HIV/Aids Hepatitis B and C infection as well as non communicable diseases like the hypertension, diabetes which according to him are now found in teenagers.

“We feel creating awareness may help to solve or change our life styles, improve our health status.

All the exercise would be done by professionals and any disease detected would be referred to hospital for treatment.

Also speaking, Rev.Rukum Gayus Minister in charge of the church said the church decided to engage the health professional in the church to render a free service for members.

“I am optimistic the programme will go a long way in creating awareness on disease among members.

“The scripture says for lack of knowledge my people perish” he added.
